Q&A

Each fund manager or fund advisor has been invited to answer a series of questions about their own funds as well as the market in general.

We sat down with Iberis Capital team to find out more about Greytech Co-Investment Fund I.

Could you please start by giving us some background about yourself and the team working on the Greytech Co-Investment Fund I?

Could you please start by giving us some background about yourself and the team working on the Greytech Co-Investment Fund I?

Iberis is a private equity manager founded in 2017 in Lisbon. We currently have a team of 23 (including 4 partners) dedicated to managing funds across three main investment verticals: Mid-Market Private Equity, Venture Capital and Yielding Real Estate. A key feature of Iberis is that all we do is manage Funds. We are not affiliated with real estate brokers, law firms, corporates or any other entities and have no third parties involved in our investment management decisions.

Why did you decide to create the Greytech Co-Investment Fund I for the Golden Visa market?

Our funds have a blend of Golden Visa and non-Golden Visa investors. The Fund's inception is rooted in the growing demand for co-investment. While Greytech II was initially designed to co-invest with Bluetech Funds, alterations in the legal framework for Bluetechs have imposed some constraints. Consequently, certain opportunities within Greytech II were dropped. The Greytech Co-Investment Fund aims to facilitate substantial investments in robust SMEs, leveraging the investment pipeline and infrastructure established by Greytech II.

The name of the fund suggested a degree of co-investment. Has the management/advisory team invested in the Greytech Co-Investment Fund I? Please explain that decision.

Partners are exclusively dedicated to Iberis and have most of their net worth invested into Iberis Capital funds, guaranteeing complete alignment of incentives, and Greytech Co-Investment Fund is no different. Iberis partners have all invested in the Fund. Although the name of the fund is related to its co-investment nature with our Greytech II fund.

Some examples of investments are a Textile Manufacturer, an Engineering & Energy networks company and a Pressure-treated wood company.

How would you describe the Greytech Co-Investment Fund I’s risk profile; Conservative, Moderate, or Ambitious?

The fund has a moderate risk profile. It invests in established companies with a solid track record of cash flow generation and EBITDAs of €2-10M and it has expected returns between 15-25%.

The Golden Visa rules state that a qualifying investment must be held for just five years but the Greytech Co-Investment Fund I’s lifetime runs for longer. Could you please explain your fund lifetime including the launch date and subscription period?

What distinguishes the Greytech Co-Investment Fund I from other Golden Visa-eligible funds operating in the market?

Can you please elaborate on other Golden Visa-eligible funds you currently operate and explain why these may be interesting for investors?

Iberis currently offers two eligible funds for the Golden Visa program: Greytech Co-Investment and Bluetech III. Investors are required to make a minimum investment of €250,000 in Iberis Funds, and they have the flexibility to allocate this amount between the available funds. This multi-fund approach allows investors to tailor their investment strategy, diversify their portfolio, and meet the Golden Visa requirements based on their preferences and risk appetite.

Considering the recent Golden Visa rule changes in October 2023, what advice would you give to investors who are currently looking into the program?

We recommend investors to spend a substantial time in due diligence, examining not only the team but also the investment philosophy of the available funds to ensure compliance with the current laws. Seeking guidance from legal professionals is encouraged. Both funds offered by Iberis Capital are aligned with the current regulation of the program.
